Kazimierz Denek, Edukacja pozalekcyjna i pozaszkolna
From the review by Prof. UAM Dr. hab. Jan Grzesiak
[…] The topic of the book delves into a broad and engaging, yet multifaceted area of human life. In discussing school and extracurricular education, the author has not overlooked essential elements of broadly understood intellectual, socio-moral, patriotic, aesthetic, and health education for children, youth, and adults. The author highlights the significant role and potential of pedagogical interventions for the younger generation through targeted extracurricular and out-of-school activities.
Implementing changes in education requires adaptation by those carrying out these changes, primarily teachers. If teachers' readiness to implement new solutions is insufficient, there is a high probability of experiencing manifestations of anomie in the school practice, meaning the non-compliance with certain norms and rules necessary for the functioning of that segment of reality. The professor provides readers with solid theoretical and epistemological foundations for education, particularly for extracurricular and out-of-school education.
[…] A thorough engagement with the content, nearly studying the entire book, leads to the reflection that the author has seemingly rediscovered the essence of extracurricular and out-of-school activities in the age of the knowledge society. According to the author, these "beyond the classroom" activities represent a significant contribution to the knowledge of the education subject, aiding in the enhancement and expansion of various competencies for both children, school youth, and adults. They thus serve as a form of activity leading to professional mastery and the fulfillment of individual needs. Consequently, the book's topic also extends into andragogy and pedagogy, making the reviewed book exceptionally valuable and relevant.
