Erasmus Policy Statement
The Poznań Academy of Applied Medical Sciences named after Prince Mieszko I, hereinafter referred to as the Academy, is a state-recognized higher education institution with full academic rights, offering education in medical, pedagogical, legal, and administrative fields. Scientific, pedagogical, and cultural forms of cooperation are among the key elements of the mission of the Poznań Academy of Applied Medical Sciences named after Prince Mieszko I, adopted by the Senate on October 17, 2015, defining the public mission of the Academy. To enhance the quality of studies and research, the Academy emphasizes academic partnerships within European countries and collaboration with partners outside the European Union. The Erasmus+ program aligns with this strategy of internationalization and modernization of the Academy, opening up opportunities for student and staff mobility, participation in inter-institutional cooperation, and involvement in projects for the development of international collaboration.
In line with its mission, the Academy strives for the broadest possible scientific cooperation that considers both scientific and intercultural contexts. One of the tools for deepening scientific and intercultural contacts is the Erasmus+ program. Recognizing the value of diversity, which the Academy considers a laboratory both scientifically and culturally, we acknowledge the importance and potential of foreign studies. Through the Erasmus+ program, we aim to enable our students to broaden their education through study abroad opportunities at our partner universities, which will not only allow them to fulfill their academic requirements but also expand their experience with science, pedagogy, or social work in a different cultural context. This goal will also be supported by internship opportunities with foreign partners. Additionally, visits to the Academy by lecturers and students from our partner institutions promote our students' exposure to European diversity. Classes conducted by visiting lecturers from our partner universities enrich the course offerings available to our students. The Academy ensures that the studies conducted here receive the highest evaluation ratings nationally and meets all necessary criteria to ensure that, based on the ECTS system, the study programs and courses offered are recognized by our partners in the European Union. The Academy also recognizes courses completed at foreign universities within the study programs it conducts. Through language courses included in the study programs, we support students' readiness for international exchanges, recognizing the importance of such studies in deepening European identity. Operating in a scientifically, culturally, and religiously diverse environment, the Academy is an inclusive place, making continuous efforts to ensure that all its students have equal access to all elements of the study offerings, including study abroad.
The Academy's participation in the Erasmus+ program is also aimed at the development of staff through the intensification of exchange and international contacts enabled by mobility opportunities. The Academy seeks to provide its staff with the chance to expand their teaching and research skills by sharing the results of their research not only with the Academy's students but also with those of our partner universities through Erasmus+ mobility. The importance of such staff activities is reflected both in the regular encouragements for all staff to participate in the program and in the consideration of mobility as an important element of their periodic evaluations. In its strategy of internationalization and modernization, the Academy also emphasizes the development of international cooperation in research through conducting research projects in medicine and social sciences within strategic partnerships, as well as exploring opportunities to engage in research on necessary changes in educational practices.
