Among the studies contained in this publication, readers will encounter recurring themes related to finding answers to the question: what should be done to educate at the university level more wisely, more modernly, more comprehensively, more clearly, better, more effectively, more efficiently—according to the changing job market and the challenges of a knowledge society? These themes are difficult to avoid in such studies, yet they represent necessary references and fragments of a larger whole. They have been deliberately retained in this publication, as they play a crucial role in holistic considerations of university didactics. The situation is akin to our football. We have stadiums, players, and coaches, but we lack success. Have we not fallen into the grooves of abstract, hermetic, self-contained university education and upbringing? It is hard to find a school of didactic thinking about academic education in the Polish context. Therefore, the resolve to improve, beyond addressing neglect, requires intense and creative work on various aspects of higher education didactics.

From the preface by Prof. Andrzej Radziewicz-Winnicki

All reflections and observations that will come to readers after reading Kazimierz Denek's new book will be very important and should, I deeply believe, lead to an affirming contemplation and deep respect for the author's years of dedicated work. The credo of Professor Kazimierz Denek's achievements, briefly outlined, boils down to the prominent belief that the modern academic teacher—a member of the university community—is not only a representative of the world of science but also has numerous and important didactic obligations. Our author is thus a scholar full of cognitive passion and a devoted educator. By recommending this book to you, I hope it will serve as an inspiration to reshape the traditional ideology and often parochial state of the local higher education system, consciously guiding it toward modernity, tolerance, pluralism, and democratization of knowledge, while avoiding fiction, distortions, and the repetition of established canons.
