Kazimierz Denek, Nauczyciel. Między ideałem a codziennością
Concern for the proper quality of education and upbringing requires, first and foremost, assigning the appropriate rank to teacher training. Therefore, we are faced with the necessity of reforming the system of teacher education, in-service training, and professional development as a basis for educational change. It is essential to continually acquire knowledge about educational reforms and to make efforts to expand the imagination of those responsible for shaping proposed changes and evaluating their outcomes.
From the Foreword by Professor Wanda Woronowicz
This book, dedicated by Professor Kazimierz Denko to Polish teachers at all levels of continuing education, carries immense content of a universal nature. Formally, it is a collection of reflections and inquiries from the last decade of the passionate scholar’s conference and journalistic activities. It practically includes a compact, modern lecture and a deep reflection on the contemporary Polish teacher. On one hand, it offers a concise, factual overview of fundamental problems connected by a common theme; on the other hand, it provides, in a broad context, a reminder and a highly accurate critique of the widespread deficiencies related to the discussed issues. What is invaluable is that the Author, with profound expertise, proposes and justifies ways to properly address the shortcomings of our current education system, aiming to match the European standards. This is achieved by leveraging the mechanisms of democratic freedom, deep integration processes, and, above all, by implementing humanistic values, particularly moral ones, that foster appropriate, reflective attitudes in individuals amidst an incredibly rapidly changing reality.
