Janusz Atlas, Janusz Musiał, Tajemniczy dwór
The publication that reaches the hands of readers was written without scientific ambition, although it was published by a scholarly press. It is a story about a particular, unique place on the map, presented mainly for sentimental reasons. It is somewhat of a whim of the authors who wish to transfer their incurable passion to those previously unaware. For the palace-park complex of Chwaliszewo in Pałuki, a few kilometers from Kcynia, hides within its walls and surrounding trees a vast array of secrets, and is, in fact, one enormous mystery. […] It is meant to be a center for the exchange of intriguing thoughts, original ideas, and important discoveries. The realization of these intentions has been made possible, among other things, by the history that has accompanied Chwaliszewo for nearly two hundred years, which is also discussed in this booklet. Indeed, not elsewhere but right there, like in a lens, focused all the lofty and difficult fates of the Poles. It was sometimes wealthy and joyful, but also – perhaps even more often – poor and threatening. There is no doubt that if not for WSPiA, this place, long devoid of care, would have crumbled from age and been overgrown with weeds. Fortunately, it is once again becoming an important point on the map, accurately located by all those who already know what Chwaliszewo was, what it might become, and what it will certainly be in the future. This has been made possible thanks to the goodwill and cooperation of a significant group of people – all those who can think and speak of themselves as the family of the Higher School of Pedagogy and Administration. And primarily for them, "The Mysterious Manor" was written.
