Medical rescue - undergraduate studies

The first degree studies in the field of medical rescue last 3 years (6 semesters), during which the student gains professional knowledge of the construction and functioning of the human body, the ability to assess the patient and recognize emergencies and to undertake the necessary medical interventions using specialized equipment. The graduate is also prepared to carry out activities in the field of didactics of medical rescue, public health and organization of the health care system. Much of the education is conducted in the form of practical classes held in specialized, well-equipped laboratories and at the patient's bedside, in clinical facilities.

Who's the lifeguard?

A paramedic is an independent health care worker specializing in providing health services in states of sudden health and life threat. He is often the first person to provide professional medical assistance to victims of accidents and sudden, serious illnesses. The tasks of a paramedic include, among others, securing people at the place of the incident, undertaking necessary medical rescue operations and safe transport of the patient to emergency departments or specialized medical units.

Professional perspectives:

A graduate of the field of Medical Rescue is prepared to work in public and non-public health care institutions, hospital emergency departments, medical rescue teams, specialized emergency services, operating in the State Medical Rescue System, and, Emergency Notification Centre, Crisis Management Centres, units of the State Fire Service, Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland, Police and other uniformed services; as a first aid instructor in: schools, schools, units cooperating with the State Medical Rescue system and workplaces with a high risk of accidents, services dealing with occupational health and safety; as a medical coordinator when securing mass events.

 Matter

In accordance with Article 10 of the Act on State Medical Rescue of 8 September 2006, students who began studies on October 1, 2016, they are obliged to take a 6-month internship and are covered by the State Medical Rescue Exam.

The profession of paramedic can be performed by a person who started higher education after September 30, 2016 in the field of studies related to education in the field of emergency medical services, covering at least 2455 hours of education and at least 80 ECTS points in the field of emergency medical services, she obtained a professional bachelor's degree and completed a six-month internship and successfully submitted the State Medical Rescue Exam, hereinafter referred to „PERM”.
