Purpose of study
Employees, with their skills, knowledge, experience and motivation to work, as well as their strong sense of identification with the company, constitute its most valuable asset. They are crucial to building a competitive advantage and are key to the company’s success. Managing such an asset requires an appropriate human resources management system. This is particularly true now, as a new generation of employees enters the labour market, for whom work-life balance is so important (a state in which employees’ professional and private lives form a coherent whole, enabling them to achieve their goals and meet expectations, whilst remaining consistent with the principles and values they share). This means that the role and importance of human resources management are increasing significantly.
The aim of the programme is to create the conditions for students to acquire the skills and competences necessary for the professional and effective management of human resources. Students will gain an understanding of the human resources management process, covering:
- the economic and legal factors underpinning a modern human resources system within an organisation,
- modern methods of analysing and planning human resources,
- modern tools and methods used in the HRM process (e.g. for the recruitment and selection of candidates for employment, induction, staff training and development, performance appraisal, etc.),
- the legal and ethical aspects of human resource management.
They will be aware of the need to develop, in a highly integrated manner, both the company’s overall strategy and its HR strategy.
An important aspect of the programme is to prepare graduates to independently improve and develop their skills and to continually expand their knowledge in the field of human resource management, in accordance with the ancient Roman maxim ‘Discimus quam diu vivimus’ – ‘We learn for as long as we live’.
