On 13 April 2023, the Minister of Education and Science, Prof. Przemysław Czarnek, granted the Prince Mieszko I Medical Academy in Poznań permission to establish a standardised Master’s degree programme with a general academic profile in the field of medicine.
During the first three years of their studies, students will acquire knowledge in the theoretical disciplines of medical sciences (through modules such as: anatomy, histology, embryology, biophysics, molecular biology, biochemistry with elements of chemistry, physiology with elements of clinical physiology, cytophysiology, genetics, microbiology, immunology, pathomorphology, pharmacology with toxicology, and elements of pathophysiology). Po uzyskaniu niezbędnej podstawowej wiedzy studenci przystępują do zdobywania wiedzy z zakresu podstawowych dyscyplin klinicznych: pediatrii, chorób wewnętrznych, psychiatrii, chorób zakaźnych, neurologii, neurochirurgii, ortopedii z traumatologią, urologii, laryngologii, okulistyki, ginekologii i położnictwa.
The knowledge, skills and competences acquired will be applied and further developed through students’ work placements in healthcare organisations, as well as during a series of practical clinical teaching sessions which take place as part of the sixth year of the degree programme.
Graduates of the Medicine degree programme will be prepared to undertake a 13-month postgraduate internship and sit the Final Medical Examination (LEK). After completing their clinical training and passing the LEK examination, graduates are granted the right to practise as doctors, which entitles them to take up employment in public and private healthcare facilities, academic centres, scientific and research institutions, government departments, sanatoriums and organisations involved in counselling and the dissemination of knowledge in the field of health education.
Obtaining the professional title of doctor will open the way for graduates to undertake specialist training in specific medical specialities and provide them with the opportunity for further academic development through postgraduate and doctoral studies.
