Cosmetology is a degree programme that combines knowledge of medical, biological and chemical sciences with practical skills in the field of body, skin and hair care. It is a discipline that focuses on improving and maintaining the health and appearance of the body, particularly the skin, which is the largest organ in the human body.
Field of study
A degree in cosmetology covers a wide range of topics, including:
- Anatomy and physiology: Understanding the structure and function of the skin and other bodily structures, which is essential for the work of a beautician.
- Dermatology: Knowledge of skin conditions, their diagnosis and treatment. Cosmetologists learn to recognise skin problems such as acne, psoriasis and eczema, and to recommend appropriate skincare treatments.
- Cosmetic chemistry: The study of cosmetic ingredients, their properties and their effects on the skin. Students develop skills in formulating cosmetics and assessing their quality and safety.
- Beauty treatments: Practical training in performing various treatments, such as facial cleansing, exfoliation, massages, and treatments using radiofrequency (RF) and microdermabrasion.
- Podiatry: Knowledge of foot care and treatment, including the management of problems such as corns and ingrown toenails.
- Nutrition and supplementation: Understanding how diet affects the condition of the skin, hair and nails, and the ability to advise clients.
- Aesthetics and styling: Courses covering make-up, eyebrow and eyelash styling, and the basics of hairdressing and manicure. Law and professional ethics: Learning about the legal aspects of working as a beautician, including health and safety.

Its presence at our University not only supports practical classes but also inspires students to explore their own make-up style.
As part of this collaboration, the University has received state-of-the-art beauty products and equipment for its beauty therapy laboratories, which will significantly enhance the teaching process. Crucially, our partners will also provide free training for lecturers and students, ensuring that practical classes will more closely reflect the realities of working in a professional beauty salon.
